Grow Your LinkedIn Profile Visits

4 min read

You know, I was ignoring my LinkedIn profile, even though I didn’t know how to use LinkedIn and why I should be here. It was just a social platform for me where I didn’t want to be. But one day, my brother asked me, ‘Why are you not on LinkedIn, and why are you not building connections over there?’ It was a conversation around 2009 when my brother had just started a new job and was exploring his professional career, and I was in the middle of it. I ignored it for a long time, but I realized its importance when I started my freelance business after leaving my full-time job in 2012.

I began building my connections and started following other professionals in my field who inspired me. My profile started to grow through both the people I followed and my own followers. I quickly realized that I had been missing out on a wealth of useful content related to business, personal growth, and opportunities.

Building the right connections is crucial for our professional career and growth. I want to emphasize this to those who are not focusing on their own profiles and are not actively building the right connections to support their growth. Having over 15,000 followers means that I have the opportunity to connect with and message a substantial number of professionals, seeking referrals and promoting my content. It’s a powerful tool, and I use it extensively for productive purposes.

I regularly consume content related to growth, business, design, the latest trends, and more to keep my knowledge up to date. Your mind and knowledge must evolve with new trends, and this can happen when you invest time in professional networks rather than cheaper social platforms and viral videos.

Now, let’s get right to the main topic without taking up more of your time: how can you improve your profile visits?

Here are the 8 steps that worked for me to Grow my LinkedIn Profile Visits and might work for you –

Step 1:

Make your profile banner both attractive and informative. Treat it like a landing page for your visitors. Pair it with a well-smiled profile picture, and maintain a clean, distraction-free colour scheme. See the example below:

Step 2:

Ensure your profile name and summary are both catchy and SEO-friendly, making it easier for people to find you in their searches. Include clear, desirable information about your expertise and provide links to your website. As a result, you’ll likely notice more visitors sending immediate connection requests, following you, and visiting both your profile and your website.

Step 3:

Featured links are also crucial. When visitors scroll down your profile, they can easily access your resume or visit your website, increasing your chances of receiving job offers and attracting potential clients.

Step 4:

Craft your About section with carefully selected keywords. Start by searching for job postings in your field to identify common keywords used by hiring managers. Research and compile a list of these keywords. Then, tailor your About section to incorporate these keywords while highlighting your unique value proposition and why prospective employers or clients should choose you. Include a comprehensive list of relevant skill sets. By strategically utilizing this SEO tool, you can increase your visibility, attract followers, make valuable connections, and receive job offers. Additionally, ensure you include your top skills, which LinkedIn’s tools can automatically highlight for you, as shown below:

Step 5:

Prioritize your current experiences in your LinkedIn profile, as they often play a crucial role in shaping your career path. Optimize this section by focusing on impactful achievements rather than just listing your responsibilities. Founders, VPs, and hiring managers are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated significant accomplishments in their current roles before considering them for opportunities.

Step 6:

Highlighting your education and certifications is paramount, as many companies place great importance on your educational background and professional certifications when evaluating potential candidates. However, education is crucial for freshers, experienced professionals often prioritize showcasing their work experience.

Step 7:

People often enjoy perusing recommendations on your profile, as they provide a firsthand account of your skills and abilities. For the best example, think of testimonial ads – when you see a testimonial ad, you immediately trust the product and consider buying it. Similarly, if your recommendations are strong, people will quickly understand your capabilities and work, increasing your chances of receiving calls and connection requests.

Step 8:

Start visiting people’s profiles so that they may also visit yours, and send them connection requests to expand your network. Cultivate a daily habit of spending half an hour on building your network, sending connection requests, reading articles & commenting liking them and visiting profiles.
